II remember when i first started working in this country.
It was a tough experience as an immigrant. I was experiencig unexpected challeges with my post highschool education as well as earning what was required to comply with the standards of society.
The standard of society affect you in more ways than you can imagine, here's why...
According to the (American) societal norm, once you turn 18 you should be independent and live on your own.
The problem with this norm are as follows:
- Most 18 yearl old Americans are ignorant when it comes to personal finance. This causes all sorts of problems and one of the main reasons why over 70% of the youth is in debt.
- To be independent you need some form of income. This can be earned in many ways, a job earned from a collegiate degree, any type of job you can get, an entrepreneurial endeavor, loans, credit and the perpetual reliance on parents.
- Societal time is drastically reduced the moment you become independent because you now have a lot more responsibilitles then before. Rent & Utily bills must be paid, you need to eat, if you have a family they need shelter, food etc...
Everything changes the moment you become independent. As such you should
aspire to have a better control of your time, better control of your finances, better control of how much time you can devote to being soical with family, friends, and strangers.
