3 Things to Start Your Marketing Off Right
We all know that most New Year's Resolutions do NOT see the cold light of February. And we aren’t just talking about the Spring Mix bag that will inevitably rot in your
fridge’s bottom drawer—we’re talking about your BUSINESS. If you do not have a business you can get started here
We may not be able
to get you to the gym every day, but we are preparing you with 3 actionable tasks to start your year off right. So you can actually follow
through with your business goals.
Because regardless of what your
resolutions are, there are a few things you can do TODAY (or at least this week) to set yourself up for success for the rest of the year.
So here is your New Year, New Marketing to-do list:
When’s the last time you’ve thought about your perfect customer? You know, that one person who adores your company and buys everything you have on sale?
If there’s ever been a time to fill out your Customer Avatar Worksheet, it’s right now. Because if you don’t know who you are selling to, you won’t know how to target them.
Already have a Customer Avatar Worksheet? It’s also a great time to re-evaluate yours. Because as your business grows and evolves, so do your customers.
This can be as simple as making a list of blog post ideas, or as complicated as filling out a detailed editorial calendar like ours (shown below).
Whatever level of complexity fits your business, mapping things out now will set you ahead of schedule with your content marketing.
(Pro Tip: Building a
content calendar doesn’t have to be complicated. Check out
this blog post for a free guide on how to build one in just minutes.)
And even more importantly, make sure that any content you plan answers a question that your customers might have. This will make you rise in the Google rankings and help you better serve your customers.
Not sure what your customers are asking? See the
task above, and then scroll down to the Tool Time section, where we have listed a couple great tools for just this problem.
3. Put some value in your subscribers’ inboxes
This is the best thing you can do for your list health, and again, this can be as simple as consistently sending out free content, or as in-depth (and highly effective) as starting an email newsletter—ask us how we know.
It’s important to get started now, while you still have some energy from vacation and the inspirational vibes from everyone
else also working on their New Year’s Resolutions.
Plus, if your customers are anything like those of us, the new year is when you "clean up" your email subscriptions and what keeps you off the
unsubscribe chopping block?
