Hi you...
I have a grin on my face as I'm typing this because I'm an extreme introvert and
sometimes I'd rather watch people than be actively talking or being the center of attention...
In my uncountable struggles and the few times I'm courageous enough
to have an inviting appearance to people (some people say I'm not approachable)
I've somehow always end up in an awkward conversation.
You see
I'm polite and it's really hard for me to cut conversations short.
In my head my brain is yelling out get the F** out but my face smiles and I listen.
Before you know it, ten minutes, twenty minutes have gone by and the
person is still
rambling.
During the time I think wow this person is still going even though I've said maybe about 5 words during this one sided conversation...
I always fell victim to this but I have something to share with you
I've found a great
way to get out of those awkward conversations:
You just say something along the lines of:
"Hey it was great to meet you but I have to get going now" (take your hand out for a hand shake)
"Have a good
night"
That's it it works!
Give it a try your introvert self will be delighted!
So what exactly happens when you take this approach?
You're politely telling this person know that you have to go and shaking
someone's hand is a great social indication that you're leaving.
Most of the time the other person will shake your hand and you
can walk
away.
keep it simple bambino, give a try and let me know hoe it goes
It was great talking to you :-)
Good bye
Adios
