There are three main ways to make a living online:
1. Sell advertising
2. Sell a product
3. Sell a service
Let's dive a little more into these 3 points.
Advertisements are annoying but they never go away. Do you know why?
It's because they work really well and generate a lot of revenue.
To make money as an advertiser you need to first have a place (website)
that generates a lot of traffic or page views.
Advertisers will pay you because they want exposure, if you're just
getting starte you probably don't have a platform that would provide that
exposure.
The other thing you could do is sell a book, a course a service or even a physical product.
I've sold all the afore mentioned successfully. There a lot of different steps involved
but if you know what you're doing you will be able to make consistent sales.
- You don't need an audience to get started
- You don't necessarily need a website
- You don't need to create something to sell.
The start up course is virtually minimal and as soon as you find your first client you are in business.
very successful and I expanded into buying my own website and provided
the service at a premium price.
I disoeered how to acquire lots of leads and realized that I could get paid a handsome
fee to send those leads to a business owner.
Here is a 5 step plan to follow so you can replace your day job within a year.
Step 1: Find the Problem
There is no need to create something new or worse trying to sell something that no one wants. I highly recommend you find something that already exists.
Here's a quick tip for helping you find something useful.
Find a detailed step by step post that explains how someone overcame a specific
problem and become the person who can implement the solution for other people.
You see even if you find this information for free online, not many people will
take action. they prefer to have other people do it for them and they're very happy to pay for that service. It's the American way of life.
Step 2: Transform that solution into a service
Understand that there are people out there that struggle with specific problems.
Become the person they turn to, when it comes time to fix that problem.
Use a website like Buzzsumo.com to find a highly shared how to post related
to your topic or something you're interested in.
Step 3: Choose one person to work with
One way to do this is to find out who shared the the tutorial you will base your service on. If they like and share it there is a very good chance they will pay you
to do the service for them. Reach out to them and show them you can provide the service for them.
Step 4: The Proposal
Don't ask anything in your initial email. Find something they have done that you like and talk about it with them. Make something special for them or show an example of what you did for someone else and show the results they received.
Step 5: Provide a stellar experience
Customer experience goes a long way. In a podcast Derek Halpern said you should try to give your potential customer the service for free before you ask them to pay.
This will show them you are serious, that you know your stuff and they will
pleased. A please customer is one that pays you over and over again.
So what do you think of this email? What kind of service can you offer?
