Hi there,
Many talented entrepreneurs and marketers have been brought down by the dreaded blank page.
When it's time to write a new landing page or blog post, all those great ideas that were in your head just moments ago seem to have vanished.
Writer's block is a common issue that even the greatest copywriters have dealt with at some point. However, there are several steps you can take to reignite your creativity and get those words flowing.
As a team that writes a lot of copy, we've picked up a few tips over the years to help us overcome writer's block. Here are our top five
strategies:
- Done is better than perfect: Don't let perfectionism stop you from writing. Instead, focus on getting your thoughts down on paper. You can always go back and make changes later.
- Start in the middle: If you're struggling to come up with a good opening, start writing in another section of your copy. There are no rules about the order in which you write.
- Schedule time to write: Set aside time in
your calendar to work on your copy. Even if you only write a few words, it's progress.
- Get inspired: Look at other businesses in your industry and see how they approached the same topic. You might find a new angle or a great headline to use.
- Take a walk: Sometimes, a change of scenery is all it takes to spark new ideas. Take a break and come back to your writing with a fresh perspective.
If you've hit a wall with your latest
copywriting project, try these strategies to get back on track.
And if you're reading this instead of writing, feel free to read the rest of the email, but don't forget to get back to work!
Good luck!
