All things being equal between two people trying to eanr an income on the side the one with an email list will always rise on top.
This is true even if the other person has a large social media following of die hard fans who watch every Facebook live and read every tweet.
Why email greater than social media?
It's in the numbers.
At then end of every sporting event the team with the highest score is the undisputed winner.
Study from SocialTwist showed that email is king. The study measured effectiveness of referrals. It included over 3,000,000 consumers between some of the largest companies like Kimberly-Clark, Barnes & Noble and Unilever.
Consumers were asked to share stuff with their friends and were given 3 options: Email, Facebook and Twitter.
Email was the preferred choice by 55.4% of consumers....
Can you believe that?
But that's not all.
Email towered over the likes of Facebook and Twitter in conversions to sales.
Email brought in over 50% of all sales for the entire campaign!
Study then shared some additional stats from other industries, showing how in some markets email takes as much as 80% of market share.
I've seen this unfold in my own stats because I've learned to track everything :-)
